The developers of the once upcoming mmorpg http://forsakensanctum.com/ have decided to leave their current engine and are looking for a new one. We(I especially) have been scowering the net looking for somehting that remotely looks close to doing what we want and for a good price. We are not still looking towards making a mmorpg.

I have downloaded the engine and plan on going through it top to bottom to see if it fits. It really looks great and I sure hope its what we have been looking for.

Questions

1.The terrain in the tech demo is a bit weak. With work we can make the terrain look great right?

2. Any plans on adding a physics engine?

3. Hows the network capabilities?

4. What model formats are supported? I currently use 3d world studio for level building, curious if i will be able to still use it.

any advice help would be greatly appreciated....

after reading through the docs I have answered 4.

Another one to take its place though. The demos dont simulate any combat. How the engine handle combat? Can it all be done through scripting, and how well will fps or even say oblivion style combat work?

Hi, I am new to baja my self, but I am not new to game development or programming.

Regarding question number one:

I guess that depends on how the terrain is made. We should try making a height map + color map + detail map + some glow effects. Maybe thats what you're looking for. As soon as I get comfortable with their interface I will right tutorials on these sort of things. That is, if they don't already exist.

Question 2:
Do you really need a physics engine? In game development I've seen people all the time worry about physics engines they don't need. Ask yourself what you are trying to do, and wonder if you really need to add on a physics engine to do that all for you or you can do it with their engine? Up until this point, in fps, mmorpg and other projects, I have not found the need to use a physics engine.

Question 3:
I will look into this.

Question 4:
You answered that yourself.

Hope this helps you out.

For networking sockets are exposed - ie, you can send data to another computer over TCP or UDP easily, but there's no higher level system that syncs data automatically. It's really flexible but you'll probably have to program a higher level system yourself (and write your own game server).
